Bugger³

That’s it. I cannot go on anymore. There is no Bugger to the fourth power on my keyboard. ² and ³ is as far it’ll go. The narrow defeat (5-6) we suffered this week will not and cannot be extended to a 4th season loss. Computer says no.

Despite a good JP in goal we didn’t get the upper hand. We started out well, but we gave it away with 3-4 very poor defensive actions, one might almost say blunders. They had a very good goalkeeper, but even then we should’ve put more balls in the net to be honest. It didn’t help that the referee – that old fart we face nearly every game – hardly ever decided in our favour :/

The feeling we should’ve busted these pompous bastards still lingers on in my mind, but let bygones be bygones. Next up is Rue de flandres, the last opponent we have yet to show some tricks.

Banana-Pineapple Fruitcake

This week’s game took place on home turf again. Metro Simonis! Tiny showers! Dikkenbal, ideal  players arriving at the scene of the crime none too early! Me forgetting to take along match papers! In short, the usual pitfalls of a home game.

Not only did we miss our top goalgetter Pino that day, we had to do without JP in goal. Reluctantly, Swinnen took up the keeper’s gloves, and I did likewise in the second half. Luckily Efrem was in excellent shape. Bob Merlo, our unfortunate adversary, was faced with ‘the scourge of Koekelberg’ time and time again. To put it simple, Efrem was involved in most of the 8 goals we scored that day.

One can never be sure, but after their 8-2 defeat, I reckon Bob Merlo didn’t know whether to go bananas or to become as nutty as a fruitcake. Incidentally, the image below is pretty much the first Google Images result for ‘Bob Merlo’.

The proof is there people, Google is clairvoyant. It’s up to you to see what Google has in store for our next victims, de Vaartkapoentjes.

The picture above illustrates Saturday’s game. It was a hard fought game in which both teams but Dave in particular dished out kicks and elbows to his heart’s content. The damage was limited to a yellow card (that will be a €5 fine thankyouverymuch – next time you’ll be out for a full league game so watch out with your quaint English football customs).

That said the referee, yet again one of those sad old men wasting their perfectly good Saturday evenings to oversee a game in Oudergem of all places – for a mere €20, was definately not on our side. At one point we were asked which ‘forest’ we were dragged out from. I for one don’t care much about such puzzling threats/insults/senile rants, but I did care about the free kicks our opponent was given as a result. Most of their goals were made thanks to that old git.

We lacked the magic of Pino and Yves’ fine dribbles as both players are injured right now, so considering the circumstances we played a damn fine game. The game ended in a tie (5-5) which is fair enough. I don’t think either team deserved a win. We did score the best goals. Efrem put the first three in the net, all of them with some good solo action, after which Philip burst through enemy lines twice, the last goal being a wonderful bycicle kick after an exquisite lob was served to him on a silver plate. Truly, a real gem.

Maurits receives the ‘kabouter pinnemuts’ of the day. He masterfully outwitted our goalkeeper JP, who apart from that played an awesome game.

Now onto Bob Merlo, I say they’re ready to be butchered. We have some catching up to do in the rankings. No time for mercy anymore. No drinking and whoring until next Wednesday! Dixi.
